Feature 1

(PCI, 2002)

Archaeological investigation involved excavation of trenches and exposure of large features. Feature 1 in this photo is the remains of Building G, identified as "Office" on 1931 and 1948 maps. However, a number of domestic artifacts were found in association with this structure. They included milk bottle fragments, amber tinted glass, whiteware dinner plate, and blue stoneware serving vessels datable to 1830-present. In addition, steel and brick mounts and small machine parts also were found at this location, suggesting a possible industrial use. The function of this structure remains uncertain.

Feature 2

A trench in the vicinity of Building J (see 1931 map) exposed Feature 2 (brick wall) and underground utility pipes. This location was identified as "company slaughterhouse," but no remains that would suggest a slaughterhouse were uncovered.
