Archaeological Investigations -Sub-Floor Drying Room (LBA, 1990)

The sub-floor drying features discovered by LBA team consisted of a four-course brick floor over two brick arched chambers (see an example of a sub-floor drying room in the Drying section). The arches were double coursed, with fire brick lining the chamber and common brick on the exterior. Square openings (about 6-inches in diameter) were located in the floor at regular intervals. The openings brought the heated air into the room from the arched chambers below (LBA, 1990: VI-4).
