Louis Berger Investigation Overview

The Price Pottery site was also investigated in this report.
It pre-dates the S & F brickworks (LBA 1990).

Louis Berger and Associates, Inc. (LBA) conducted Phase II and Phase III investigations at the S & F brickworks in 1990. The results of this research were presented in Archaeological Investigations at the Sayre & Fisher Brickworks and Price Pottery Site Report for the Harbortowne Waterfront Development in Sayreville, New Jersey. These investigations covered a 54-acre tract along the Lower Raritan River basin (see the investigation area map). They included historical research, consultations with local historians, and archaeological excavations. On the basis of examination of historical maps, LBA located archaeological features such as sub-floor drying rooms, fireboxes, a kiln and a bulkhead by means of excavation.
